Ingredients

  • 4 boneless pork chops, 1-inch thick About 6 oz each
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Equipment

  • 1 Large Skillet
  • 1 Meat Thermometer

Method

  1. Pat the pork chops dry with a paper towel. In a small bowl, mix together the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Season both sides of the pork chops with the mixture.
  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the packed brown sugar, soy sauce, and minced garlic until combined. Set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the pork chops in the hot skillet and sear for 3-5 minutes on each side, until a golden-brown crust forms.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium-low. Pour the brown sugar glaze over the pork chops. Allow it to simmer and thicken for 2-3 minutes, spooning the glaze over the pork. Cook until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C). Remove from heat, let rest for 5 minutes, and serve.

Notes

For best results, use a meat thermometer to ensure the pork chops are cooked to a perfect 145°F and not a degree more.
Allowing the pork chops to rest before serving is essential for keeping them juicy.
