Ingredients

Casserole Ingredients
  • 8 Beef Hot Dogs All-beef franks preferred
  • 8 Soft Hot Dog Buns Standard white buns
  • 2 cups (480ml) Thick Meat Chili No-bean variety works best
  • 2 cups (225g) Shredded Orange Cheddar Cheese Sharp cheddar for best flavor
  • 1/2 cup (75g) White Onion Finely diced
  • 2 tbsp (8g) Fresh Parsley Minced
  • 2 tbsp (30g) Butter Melted
  • 1/2 tsp (2g) Garlic Powder

Equipment

  • 1 White ceramic baking dish (9x13) Essential for the visual contrast and even baking.
  • 1 Pastry Brush For applying garlic butter to buns.
  • 1 Chef's Knife For dicing onions and parsley.

Method

Preparation and Assembly
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange buns tightly in the white ceramic dish. Mix melted butter and garlic powder and brush onto the inside of each bun.
  2. Place one beef hot dog into each bun. Generously spoon thick meat chili over the center of each hot dog.
  3. Blanket the entire dish with shredded orange cheddar cheese, ensuring the edges of the buns are slightly covered to create toasted crusts.
Baking and Garnishing
  1. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and shows golden-brown toasted edges.
  2. Remove from oven and immediately scatter the finely diced raw white onions and minced fresh parsley over the top.

Notes

Tip 1: Use thick chili to prevent buns from getting soggy.
Tip 2: Shred your own cheese for a smoother, more visual melt.
