Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter softened
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 slices thick-cut bread like Texas toast or sourdough
  • 1/4 cup shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup shredded provolone cheese

Equipment

  • 1 Non-stick Skillet
  • 1 Spatula

Method

  1. In a small bowl, thoroughly mix the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and salt until well combined.
  2. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place one slice of bread, butter-side-down, into a cold non-stick skillet. Top with the shredded mozzarella and provolone cheeses. Place the second slice of bread on top, with the buttered side facing up.
  4. Place the skillet over medium-low heat. Cook for 3-5 minutes on each side, until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese is fully melted and gooey.
  5. Remove from skillet, slice diagonally, and serve immediately for the best experience.

Notes

For the best melt, shred your own cheese from a block.
Cook the sandwich over medium-low heat to prevent the butter from burning before the cheese has melted.
Feel free to mix up the cheeses! A combination of cheddar, Gruyère, or Monterey Jack would also be delicious.
