Ingredients

Sauce Ingredients
  • 15 oz Tomato Puree 425g, thick and vibrant red
  • 2 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil 30ml, for flavor and sheen
  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano 1g, rubbed for better aroma
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder 1.5g, for smooth texture
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Black Pepper 0.5g, for tiny visual flecks
  • 1/2 tsp Sea Salt 3g, fine grain
  • 1/2 tsp Granulated Sugar 2g, to balance acidity

Equipment

  • 1 Glass Mason Jar For storage and presentation
  • 1 Whisk To emulsify the oil and spices
  • 1 Small saucepan Optional for simmering

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl or small saucepan, combine the thick tomato puree with the extra virgin olive oil.
  2. Add the dried oregano, garlic powder, black pepper, sea salt, and sugar. Whisk vigorously until the oil is emulsified and the spices are evenly distributed, showing tiny flecks throughout.
  3. Place over low heat for 15 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the color to deepen into a vibrant red. Do not boil.
  4. Transfer the finished sauce into a glass mason jar. Notice the glossy sheen on top and the smooth texture.

Notes

Use a clear glass jar to showcase the vibrant red color and herb flecks.
Rub the oregano between your fingers before adding to release its aromatic oils.
