- In a bowl or small saucepan, combine the thick tomato puree with the extra virgin olive oil.
- Add the dried oregano, garlic powder, black pepper, sea salt, and sugar. Whisk vigorously until the oil is emulsified and the spices are evenly distributed, showing tiny flecks throughout.
- Place over low heat for 15 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the color to deepen into a vibrant red. Do not boil.
- Transfer the finished sauce into a glass mason jar. Notice the glossy sheen on top and the smooth texture.
