Step-by-Step Directions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a rectangular glass baking dish.
- Heat 1 tbsp (15ml) of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 lb (450g) of ground beef and cook until you achieve crumbled, deeply browned cooked ground beef.
- Lower heat to medium. Add 1/2 cup (75g) diced yellow onions. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until translucent.
- Reduce heat to medium-low. Add 4 oz (115g) cream cheese, 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream, 1/2 cup (120ml) beef broth, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 3 to 5 minutes until it forms a thick creamy off-white sauce.
- Transfer the mixture to the glass baking dish. Sprinkle 1.5 cups (170g) of grated orange cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
- Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until you see a thick, bubbly blanket of melted orange cheddar cheese with golden-brown toasted spots and slightly crispy edges pulling away from the sides.
- Let rest for 5 minutes. Generously sprinkle with finely chopped bright green fresh parsley flakes before serving.
Notes
Grate your own cheese for a smoother melt.
Do not drain all the beef fat, it helps emulsify the sauce.
